Unit Extension Ideas

  • Using other procedural texts students should be expected to identify the explicit steps, identify the sequence and discuss the importance of the sequence, and identify the sequence words.
  • Students can discuss and illustrate the sequence within a story they are reading.
  • Students can identify sequence clue words in books they are reading.
  • Students can act out or follow the directions of another student’s procedural text.
  • Students can write or illustrate directions to play a favorite game. Students can follow the directions of a game to play during recess.
  • Students can bring in a favorite recipe from home with draw each step. These can be put together into a class cookbook.
