Not Provided: My Big Truck Book by Roger Priddy, scissors, chart paper, markers

Teacher Modeling
will read aloud My Big Truck Book by Roger Priddy and discuss the similarities of the trucks in each group. I will explain the categories of trucks. (Example Chart is provided.)

Think Check
Ask: "How did the author of My Big Truck Book decide to group the trucks?" Students should respond that he grouped the trucks based on how they are the same or similar.

Guided Practice
will sort the students in the class into two groups: boys or girls. Then, we will sort the students in the class into two different groups: tall or short. We will discuss how we can group people and things into many different groups.

Independent Practice
will cut out pictures of trucks and sort them into two groups of your choice. (Independent Practice Worksheets are provided.)
