These units are fabulous! I can't wait for the addition of more read alouds! Thank you ReadWorks team for all of your hard work! These lessons are extremely beneficial and valuable to me as a First Grade Teacher. Thanks again for sharing!

This program is extemely beneficial to all teachers who want to ensure reading success for their students. Thank you so much for providing relevant resources with the reading teacher in mind!

I am so thankful for the readworks site and your team! It is so wonderful to have resources that can help teachers in their daily planning. Please keep doing the hard work that you are doing and know that you are enriching the lives of many children and supporting teachers everywhere when the expectation is for us to have every child reading and on grade level which is what we live for daily but do not want to provide us with the necessary resources to ensure this goal! You on the other hand are providing awesome resources and best of all FREE! I know that children's success is what you are all about! God Bless You All!

I am looking for a first grade unit. When I went to look up the GE of the books, so my students could take an AR assessment on the book, almost all the books are 3rd grade equivilency. There was only one book from the entire list I could use, (The Dot) and even that is a 1.9. Why is that?

Hi Wendy. Thank you so much for writing and for your interest in ReadWorks - we greatly appreciate it! The text complexity measures of the books for these units are higher because they are meant to be used for read-aloud. Research shows that exposing students to more complex text through read-aloud is vital to increasing vocabulary & background knowledge, and is supportive of independent reading.
